Forensic Psychiatry Program and Clinic
The Forensic Psychiatry Program and Clinic at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Medicine provides a centralized resource for legal and mental health professionals to obtain and access high-quality civil and criminal forensic assessments, expert testimony, forensic empirical research, and training/education in psychiatry and law.
We aim to:
- Provide prompt, reliable, and credible forensic services by knowledgeable and highly-trained clinical staff.
- Educate attorneys and other legal professionals about how our expertise in forensic psychiatry and forensic psychology can be of assistance to them.
- Ground forensic evaluations in the latest scientific knowledge by conducting empirical research at the interface of psychiatry and law.
- Train psychiatrists and psychologists in conducting evidence-based assessments for the legal system.
- Provide legal and mental health professionals an experience that will encourage their return to our program.
