"Research Assistant IV" (3 positions available)

 

According to the UNC Work-Study Employment Website, Research Assistants at this pay level:

Require an individual who possesses substantial experience, advanced technical knowledge, and previous training or certification. Must possess a high level of competency or fluency with a specialized skill. Student employee must readily demonstrate the use of independent judgment, decision-making ability, and may be expected to work responsibly with little or no direct supervision. Previous work experience at a lower level within the same department or functional area may be required. The student may be expected to manage research, analysis, publication, instruction, or other special projects or activites of significant scope.

    Faculty members and the UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry are conducting empirical research on post-deployment adjustment of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. Research assistant positions will involve conducting national survey, data management, grant and manuscript development, literature reviews and interpretation of statistical results.

    Specific projects will include: 1) Developing a screen for violence and suicide among returning veterans; 2) Analyzing longitudinal survey data on traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder and alcohol abuse; and 3) Implementation of a research registry for veterans and military family members receiving care at non-VA facilities.
