Letter to Applicants from the Training Administrator
Instructions for those who wish to apply to our program

Dear Applicant:
Thank you for your interest in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency program at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Our program's Training Director is board-certified Child and Adolescent psychiatrist, Dr. Karen K. Poulos.
All positions for 2009 and 2010 entry into our program are filled. If you are interested, however, in applying for entry in 2011, the deadline for receipt of applications is February 15, 2010, and all supporting documents must be received no later than March 1, 2010. Please read carefully the following instructions. The UNC Hospitals Application for Appointment to House Staff, along with information on salaries, benefits and the hospitals' policies may be found on the webpage for UNC Hospital's Office of Graduate Medical Education.
In addition to the Hospitals' Application for Appointment to House Staff, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry applicants should submit the following:
- Curriculum Vitae;
- Personal Statement;
- Dean's Letter;
- Official Medical School Transcripts;
- Official USMLE Transcripts;
- Official ECFMG Status Reports for all international medical graduates - Please note that although we may accept the J-1 visa, we are no longer able to accept an H-1B visa nor do we sponsor or apply for a visa on behalf of an applicant;
- Two (2) Letters of Recommendation from medical professionals (not residents) with whom you have worked. These letters should be written to the Training Director and mailed to the training office at the address shown below;
- Letters from training directors of current and ALL prior residency programs.
After the selection committee has reviewed the completed application, we will contact you to schedule an interview. Applicants will be notified by email, so pleas make sure a valid E-mail address is included on your application.
