Parent Care Study

Parent Self-care
Do you want to help researchers learn what families who have been affected by a child’s eating disorder need most? We are now recruiting volunteers for a parent discussion group. You will be compensated for your participation.
What is Parent Self-care?
Parent Self-care is a small discussion group with 6-10 parents of children with eating disorders and researchers at UNC and Duke. Researchers are interested in listening to your thoughts and experiences as a parent of a child with an eating disorder.
How will I be compensated for my participation?
Each participant will receive $10, pizza, and refreshments as a token of appreciation. You will also be helping other parents that have children with eating disorders.
When and where will discussion groups be held?
Discussions will start at 7:00pm on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 and will last approximately 1.5 hours. The discussion will be held at the UNC Neurosciences Hospital on the first floor.
Who can participate?
Mothers and/or fathers of children (age 18 and younger) with eating disorders.
How do I participate?
It is easy! If you are interested in learning more or signing up, please email Sheetal Patel at sjcpatel@email.unc.edu or call Autumn Shafer at 919-923-7833, mention the parent discussion group and leave your name, number, and email. Thank you.
