Participation in Research
The UNC Eating Disorders Program has an active research program focusing on many topics related to eating disorders and body weight regulation. At UNC, all patients are given the opportunity to participate in research. Participation in any research project is completely voluntary. The choice to participate or not to participate is entirely yours and that decision in no way influences your clinical care. Your first priority is recovery from your eating disorder, whether you choose to participate in research during or after your recovery is a personal decision that we respect at all times.
Research Training Opportunities
Trainees from all disciplines have the opportunity to take part in a rich array of clinical and research studies currently underway with the UNC Eating Disorders Program. The Research component of the program includes projects covering topics ranging from anorexia nervosa to obesity and using methodologies ranging from molecular genetics to clinical trials. At any given time, the eating disorders program includes research faculty trainees, post-doctoral fellows, PhD students, residents, medical students, and undergraduate trainees.
