Maria C. La Via, MD

Maria C. La Via, MD is Associate Professor and Medical Director for Eating Disorders in the Department of Psychiatry at UNC Chapel Hill. Dr. La Via received her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Michigan State University. She graduated from medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina where she also completed her residency in psychiatry as well as fellowships in child and adolescent psychiatry and eating disorders. She is a board certified adult and child and adolescent psychiatrist. Dr La Via has been treating individuals with eating disorders for 13 years, during that time she has taken an active role in research as well. Dr La Via is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the Academy for Eating Disorders.
