Dr. Haggerty is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the UNC School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, where he has been a full time faculty member since 1980. He is Director of the Division of Social & Community Psychiatry at UNC, and Director of departmental AHEC (Area Health Education Program) training.
