Summary Statement:
Dr. Elbogen is a forensic psychologist who conducts both clinical work and empirical research at the intersection of law and mental health services. His main areas of research include violence risk assessment, mandated community treatment, and competency to make medical and financial decisions.
Dr. Elbogen is currently Principal Investigator of an NIMH funded R01 examining the effects of PTSD and TBI on post-deployment adjustment among Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. He is also Principal Investigator of a DoE funded project investigating representative payeeship among adults with psychiatric disabilities. In terms of clinical work, Dr. Elbogen currently provides forensic and neuropsychological assessments at Central Regional Hospital in Butner, NC, in addition to forensic, neuropsychological, intelligence, and personality testing through the UNC Forensic Psychiatry Program and Clinic.
