Outpatient Services

The STEP Outpatient clinic provides a variety of services for individuals who are living in the community. Each patient who is referred to the clinic is assigned to a team that is led by one of our attending psychiatrists. The primary service provider is a psychiatric resident, who has the support of the attending psychiatrist and a multidisciplinary team that includes clinical social workers, occupational therapists, and recreation therapists. Services available in the clinic include:

  • State-of-the-art pharmacological management
  • Individual and group psychotherapy for assistance in coping with mental illness, decreasing social isolation, and improving social skills
  • Case management to assist individuals in accessing community resources and to improve quality of life through housing, education, employment, and social networks
  • Family psychoeducation to increase knowledge of psychotic disorders, provide support and develop practical skills to assist in coping with the mental illness
  • Individual and group recreational therapy to improve physical health and well-being, decrease social isolation, develop more effective social and cognitive skills, integrate with the community, and enhance quality of life
  • Individual and group occupational therapy addressing specific problem areas such as money management, job issues, problem-solving and decision-making in order to increase functional levels in the community
