The STEP Inpatient Unit provides acute care for individuals in
need of immediate, intensive treatment. Most patients require immediate
stabilization with pharmacologic treatment. After the patient has
been stabilized, STEP inpatient unit provides a variety of psycho-educational
programs aimed at helping patients learn to better manage their
illness, prevent relapse and improve functional ability.

Other Inpatient Services
- Social Work Services: Individualized case management
and discharge planning services, as well as family counseling
and consultation
- Occupational therapy: Initial evaluation of functional
ability - both cognitive and performance - through use of specialized,
standardized assessments. Programs include a task group, cooking
group, coping skills, community living skills, and one-on-one
discharge planning
- Recreational Therapy: Individualized assessments and
treatment plans to improve overall functioning ability in psychosocial,
leisure, cognitive and physical domains. Programs include coping
skills, stress management, expressive arts, exercise/fitness and
health and community re-integration.
